Victorian Hairwork Necklace Momento 18K Gold Filled Pendant

NEC110164 - The people who lived in the Victorian era were very sentimental, and would make jewelry and watch chains out of the hair of their loved ones, both living and dearly departed. I believe this necklace to be a love token. It is woven of real human hair and is more than 100 years old. The pendant is 18K gold filled and enamelled with a different design on each side and is finished off with a tassel. The pendant measures 4" long and the necklace measures 24" long. In good condition considering its age, with the exception a few shortened strands and wear to the tassel. Still very interesting and wearable.
